Today is NOT Mommy's birthday anymore so I decided to make up for being so good yesterday. I spent most of the day crying. Mommy just doesn't understand what's wrong with me and I can't talk yet so I can't tell her. It's frustrating for both of us.
Here I was actually just frustrated that I couldn't reach the keys above my head. But Mommy thinks most of my crying was because I didn't feel good. I've been eating lots of fruit. Mommy thinks I might having something called "heartburn." She's been giving me Mylanta and I like it. It does put me in a better mood.
I was so upset that I missed most of my naps today because I was just so worked up I couldn't sleep. Mommy and I both hope that we have a better day tomorrow. Gramma and Grampa are coming to get me.

Happy Birthday, Mommy!
Today is Mommy's birthday. I was very good for her all day. I played quietly by myself most of the day today. Mommy got a lot of cleaning and straightening done. Then I even took my naps like I'm supposed to without a fight. Here you can see I wrapped myself up in my blanket. Don't worry. If you were to see me from another angle, you would see that my face isn't covered. It just looks like it.
Tonight, I went to Gramma and Grampa's to play so Mommy and Daddy could go out on a date together to celebrate Mommy's birthday. Grampa drove me home and I got to try out their new carseat! It's really nice. When I got home I was pooped and had fallen asleep in the car. Grampa carried me right in to my bed.

My New Toy
Mommy has been looking around to find me a new toy on Craig's list on the internet where people can sell their used stuff. We went and bought this new ball maze yesterday from a nice lady in Laurel whose little boy is almost a year older than me. He doesn't play with it anymore and I like it a lot! Here's a happy picture of me giving it a workout!
It's been getting cold and it's going to be really rainy soon. Daddy's been keeping a fire going in the fireplace. You can see it in the background of the picture. I like the fire. I want to get to the fire but my parents won't let me. They keep saying, "HOT!" I'm still not sure what it means yet but I don't think it's good. But the fire is very pretty!

Harvest Moon Hayride
Mommy's been shopping a place on the internet called "Craigslist" for another big toy for me. I don't really need anymore toys but I get bored in the house really quick and it's supposed to rain soon. The lady whose toy we bought lives in Laurel which was perfect because afterwards we were going to the Harvest Moon Hayride.
This hayride was a lot of fun. It was so cold I could see Mommy and Daddy's breath. They had me bundled up good and brought a blanket, too. I enjoyed watching the tractor but it was hard to see stuff in the dark.
Once the tractor stopped there was this big ball of fire Mommy called a bonfire. They had all kinds of snacks there like goldfish, animal crackers and popcorn. Mommy even shared some hot cocoa with me. Just a little bit. It was yummy. I got to cruise around all the hay bales people were sitting on but I was starting to get hot and cranky. You heard me, hot. That ball of fire was really hot.
My parents decided it was time to get me home so we climbed back on the tractor and it took us back to our van. I love going on hayrides. It's so much fun!

What's Up, Doc?
Today I had a visit to see Dr. Darden. Mommy was afraid I was going to have some nasty shots but the doctor said "Happy Birthday, Elaina! No shots this time!"
He weighed me and checked my ears and throat. He listened to my belly and my abdomen. He did all kids of checking and said I'm doing great!
I now weigh 18 1/2lbs which puts me up in the 15th percentile. This is a good sign because it means I'm gaining weight. I'm also 29 5/8ths inches. This puts me in the 65th percentile which is shorter than I've been. The doctor said that it's okay because it just means my weight is beginning to catch my height but I'm still a long and lean string bean!

Happy Birthday to ME!!!!!
It's my party and I'll cry sleep if I want to. Today, I turned ONE year old. I'm officially a big girl. I had fun playing with Mommy today. We went to Harris Teeter and bought groceries. Then we came home and I took a big nap. Mommy said that was my present to her for giving birth to me.
Mommy and Daddy wanted to do something fun with me that I would like but the park is closed by the time Daddy gets home because it gets so dark early now. Mommy was afraid of going to the mall and playing on their equipment because there's so many sick kids right now.
So Mommy called up Gramma and Grampa and we went to Cetrones. That's another place I like. The people there are nice to me and I'm allowed to get down and walk around there. I have had big fun turning one. I got a party, presents and everybody came to see me. I had so much fun that think I should turn one again next month.

Played Till I Dropped.
Daddy had a doctor's appointment in Baltimore today. Mommy wanted to go with him so I got to play over Gramma and Grampa's house. Me and the Tammy dog are best friends. She loves it when I come over and gets all excited.
After Daddy's appointment we all went to the restaurant called Texas Roadhouse near Gramma and Grampa's house. I love going there because I like their food and love watching all the people come and go.
I feel asleep on the short drive to the restaurant so I didn't get to see much. I was kind of cranky because it was getting close to my bedtime but Grampa took me outside in my stroller. I love it when he does that because I get to see even more stuff and I'm on the move!

Sunday with the Family
I like Sundays. We get up early and go to church. I usually go to the nursery and play with all of their toys and get to spend time with my friends at church.
After church we ran a few errands and then headed home so I could get my lunch and take my afternoon nap. Daddy put together my toy from Mom-mom that I got for my birthday. I had a lot of fun checking it all out and trying to figure out what it does. I also have a confession: I had as much fun playing with the box it came in. I know I'm funny like that.

Happy 1st Birthday to Me!
My birthday is really on Wednesday but Mommy and Daddy wanted to have my party on the weekend. They love Halloween so they figured, why not a Halloween birthday party? We had so many decorations and the food was all orange or black. We had things like carrot sticks, cheese balls and black licorice. I had so much fun eating cake. Grampa was afraid I was going to get sick from eating so much sugar. I got so messy I had to take a bath. My buddy Caleb even came to my party!
I've been having such a hard time trying to figure out a new nap and sleep schedule. I didn't sleep at all the whole time. Grampa and Daddy gave it their best shot to try and get me to sleep but I got some good stroller time out of it. After I was done with my bath, I got to put my costume on. It's a dinosaur. Aunt Lynn bought it for me because she thought it was so cute. Everybody ate big food and had a good time especially me. I can't wait to have another birthday. I like cake!

Let's Get Ready to Rumble!!!
Tomorrow is my 1st ever birthday party. We're going to Aunt Jocie's house to celebrate. Mommy and Daddy have a few last minute shopping things to do today before the big shindig. I have my costume already thanks to my Aunt Lynn. I'm so excited about tomorrow. Mommy says I'll get to eat something new called, "cake." I think I'm going to like that kind. Look for pictures of my costume and me eating cake!

What's for Lunch?
I thought I'd share with you what my meals are like now. I still love my chicken nuggets, bananas, pears and my cheese chunks but I also have discovered the joyous taste of HOTDOGS, rice cakes and orange slices. Mommy keeps slipping me veggies every now and then, hoping upon all hope I will change my mind. I have turned down, spit out or flat out refused to eat yellow squash, green beans, carrots, sweet potato and peas. She even tried giving me some broccoli hidden under some cheese sauce. I figured that one out pretty quickly. When is she going to learn, she's no match for me!

A Sales Pitch You Can't Refuse
Today some salesman came to the door. Mommy usually turns them away but today for some reason she let the guy in. He was selling vacuum cleaners. He did a good job of showing Mommy how good it was but Mommy wasn't interested in it. I thought it was pretty neat. I really wanted to play with it. It was really shiny.
The salesman really wanted Mommy to buy one so he took a long time doing his presentation. I had had enough and wanted to nurse and go to sleep so I pitched a fit. Mommy finally told the guy that she was going to have to take her shirt off and nurse me and that if he didn't want to see that, then he had better get going. He was gone super quick after that. See, Mom? I may be little but I can still help around the house.

One More Week...
In exactly one more week, I will be ONE year old. Mommy and Daddy and everybody else can't get over how big I am and how fast I've grown. I'm so glad I was born. I have family and doggies that love me, great toys to play with, we go all kinds of neat places. I love my life. God knew what He was doing when He created a way for Mommies and Daddies to have kids.

Grandparent Curse
Anybody that has had kids has heard of this thing called the "Grandparents' Curse." Basically, it's believed that you because you your parents trouble when you were little they wish that your kids give you the same kind of trouble so that you will know what it's like.
Gramma and Grampa tell Mommy and Daddy all the time that Aunt Becky was a difficult sleeper and a busy body, not Daddy so we can only guess that Mommy must have been the stinker because I don't like to go to sleep...EVER. A little person like me is to sleep at least 12 hrs a night plus one or two naps a day.
Mommy and Daddy are thrilled if I will go to bed before 9:00 PM. Usually, I scream, cry, stomp my feet, jump up and down. I know I'm not even a year old yet but I know how to throw a temper tantrum. Nobody has to teach me this.
Mommy was so frustrated she called for reinforcements. Grampa came over and she gave him the task of getting me to sleep. I knew he'd met his match because I'm a tough customer and when I don't want to sleep, I'm not gonna sleep. Grampa knows this about me. So you know what he did? He played with me until I passed out in his arms.
Grampa and I had the best time. I showed him how good at walking and climbing I was getting. I showed him my plastic tub of toys and how I like to sit in it. He and I had a good time playing together and Mommy and Daddy didn't care as long as they could get their work done. They just hope that every night isn't going to be like this one.

Autumn in Beltsville
It's Tuesday. There's nothing special going on today but Mommy thought it would be a good idea to go outside so I could see all the pretty leaves and watch them fall off of the trees. It's been raining a lot so the ground is wet. Mommy wouldn't put me down. I walk a lot now but I still prefer to crawl especially in new situations and Mommy didn't want me getting wet and chilly.
I enjoyed being outside and watching the leaves. The doggies got in on the fun, too. They got playing with each other while we were out there. I love watching them wrestle, it makes me laugh.

Catch Me...If You Can
I'm such a busy body lately that I don't like to sit still. It's hard to get me to stay in one place to change me, cloth me or even feed me and I like to eat. Here you see me with my clothes half on. I was squirming so bad Mommy couldn't finish the job but I was HUNGRY. So she put me in my high chair like this. I even fuss if they don't keep enough food on my plate.
Here you can see food on my plate yet I still have my one leg hanging over the seat. I'm ready to escape. My brain is so busy that it tells me that I want to do all of this stuff at once and I get so confused and frustrated. That's okay though because my parents are patient with me. I did sit still long enough to let Mommy snap this picture.

Mr. and Mrs. David Calvin
My Aunt Julia got married today. She looked so pretty in her white dress. Grandma Mary asked a friend of hers to come watch me during the ceremony. Ms. Beth was a really nice lady. Her husband plays golf with Pop-pop. I had fun playing with her.
Afterwards, I got my picture taken with Aunt Julie and the family. We also got one of Daddy, Mommy and I all dressed up. Then we drove over to this really fancy place where everybody ate together and danced. I even did a little dancing on the dance floor. I liked this place because there were mirrors everywhere. I really like looking at myself because I think it's another baby still so I grin and grin. I had a lot of fun celebrating Uncle David and Aunt Julie's marriage.
After the wedding, Mommy and Daddy drove me down to see Gramma and Grampa. I had to show off my pretty dress. They played with me for a little while and gave me some food to eat. I also got to see the Tammy dog. I like her and she likes me. Once I started to get cranky, we had to go home so I could go to bed. I had a long day but a great one.
