Maryland Zoo

Show off

So around 1:30 we hoped in the car and took off for Baltimore. I was pretty happy the whole time. I did start to take my seatbelt off while we were on the JFX but Mommy caught me before I got the first arm through. She reached around behind her while she was driving and pushed my arm back through the seat belt. This did not make me very happy.

Once we got to the zoo, we got to take a tram into the main part of the zoo. I enjoyed the tram ride. I held on tight to Mommy at first but as we got further along on the ride, I got braver. I eventually got the courage to just sit next to Mommy and just keep my hand on her leg.
Decided I could sit on my own
The first thing we did when we got there was check out the polar bears. One of them was swimming and you could see him through the glass. He would push off the wall and swim backward on his back and then turn around at the end and swim forward on his tummy. He did this over and over and over. I had fun watching him.

The next thing we saw is a pretty white snow owl...

and some ravens. The ravens were saying "Caw! Caw!"

We saw a vulture. Mommy didn't like him very much.

I got to watch a turtle creeping by me.He was the most eye-catching thing I saw today. Most of the time I just wanted to eat my snacks.
Neat
When we got down to the giraffe area, there was this one big giraffe named, "Angel.' Mommy and I got to feed him. Don't worry it was allowed. You pay $2 and they give you this little tree branch and you stick it out and she grabs it with her long tongue. I LOVED it! I made the same happy noises that I make when I see my doggies!
Tongue
Next we were off to find the elephants and came across these funny penguins. I really liked the penguins. I had to stand on my stroller to see over the wall to catch a sight of them.

Then it was on to the elephants. They had several different elephants walking around but this one they called, "The Bachelor."
I Love Elephants
After the elephants we stopped by to see the Rhinos.
Rhinos
I was much more interested in eating at this point.
And whats Elaina doing
Mommy said it was time to go even though we didn't get to see everything. But that's okay! That leaves more to see the next time we come back! I love the zoo.
Thanks, Zoo. I've had a good time
On the way home we passed the hospital Mommy was born in.
St. Agnes Where I was born!
And saw a beautiful evening sky. What a great day!
Perfect ending to a perfect day

Jenny

No, not Mommy, Jenny Craig. Mommy met up with Pop-pop today who has been participating in Jenny Craig's weight-loss program. They went to a center in Laurel and signed Mommy up to start participating in Jenny Craig, too!

Daddy had off today because it's Columbus Day. I don't know who Columbus is, yet, but I sure had a good time with Daddy. I was pretty cranky and he said he is reminded of what Mommy goes through every day. And to think he only had to watch me for a couple of hours!

We got back in the cars and the next thing I know, we're at this farm. It's got all these pumpkins around it. Mommy said we were here last year although I don't remember.

The first thing I did was check out the pumpkins.
Hanging Out and Waiting for Everyone to get here
After that I went and played in the hay maze. They had a special one for toddlers even though there were kids of all sizes there.
Not afraid
I liked crawling around in that one but I'm so big, I decided I could do the big one, too. Daddy came with me to make sure I was okay.
Maybe around the corner
The next thing I know, there's cousin Shawn!
Shawn!
Cousin Verity enjoyed the straw mazes, too!
Jump!
Next we went to the Boo Barn. Aunt Julie warned us it might be a little too scary but we all did just fine.
Ahhh!!!!
Ready to go again
As a matter of fact, I tried to dismantle one of the skeletons. That's apparently not allowed. But I definitely was not afraid.
Elaina wasn't spooked by the boo barn
Till Daddy Came out
Aunt Jocie, Mom-mom and Mommy all waited for us to come out.
Fun on the Farm
Then we went over to see the animals. Here I am with Mom-mom, looking for a handout.
Me and Mom-mom
And then Gramma and Grampa showed up!
Hi Friends
Thanks to Uncle JD and Uncle David, we got a quick snack we went up to pick apples.

Mommy, Daddy and I rode in Gramma and Grampa's car. They brought Blue with them!
Blue!
They had Red Delicious Apples hanging on the vine.
Mmm, Apple Ochard Verity
And Stayman Apples that you had to climb a ladder to get.
Here, catch!
Here is Uncle JD with the all the apples he picked!

I enjoyed eating my first apple all by itself.
Yum
Everyone enjoyed the apple picking.
The Weary Apple Pickers
Bianca and Aunt Jocie enjoyed the apples, too!
Mmm Apples
Next we went back down and had lunch. Gramma held me while Mommy waited in line.
Gramma Kisses
After lunch we went on a hay ride. It was pretty bumpy so I just snugged into Mom and Dad.
Evans Hayride pic!
Grampa played games in the hay like he did last year.
Grampa, I know that game
After the hay ride we visited the hay maze again to show them to Grampa and Gramma who hadn't seen them yet. They went in with me and Gramma took pictures while Grampa chased me.

Here he comes to get me
He Got Me!
There was this really neat string group playing there called, "Painted Trillium."

Finally we went to the barn one more time to get some cider. I discovered this neat thing and Grampa stood close to keep me from getting my fingers caught in it.
That's cool, Grampa
On the way home, I passed out but not before I got my shoulder straps down. It was a great day down on the farm.

I love this zoo because there's a great petting zoo where we enter. I got to pet a cow today. I like this cow because he didn't "moo" at me like the cow at the MD State Fair.

Mommy left her camera at home but she used her camera to take a few pictures of us. Like this one of Caleb while we were eating lunch.

Caleb and I are such good buddies, we decided to play peek-a-boo.

I got to see the Elephants' new home. They've made a huge Elephant walk and you can see them from a couple of different viewing areas. In the picture above you can see we were up on a bridge.

Do you remember the last time Caleb and I went to the zoo together? We were little. Here's a comparison.

We're getting so big and can really appreciate the zoo more than we did last year. Thanks for checking out my zoo photos. Mommy says we're going to the farm tomorrow. Oh boy! Big weekend.
